The Return of Trump and The Collapse of Twitter
hey everyone, looks like this is a love-hate relationship.
The return of former U.S. President Donald Trump to Twitter, and the subsequent collapse of the platform, has been a major topic of discussion in recent months.
Ahem!
Everybody needs a scapegoat and Musk found Trump. Everyday, we think that the Twitter drama has peaked yet we live to see another day it escalates. Today, Elon Musk re-instated the Twitter account of former US President (ok, 45th), Donald Trump. He even went to the lengths of restoring everything intact from a backup server — he did, in fact. Let that sink in!
Elon Musk initially wanted to fire about 85% of Twitter’s employees but then rested at 50%. Now his dream has come true with ~ 90% of the staff gone. Twitter 2.0 - A Musk Venture was what he thought of when he shot off an email to the existing employees to commit to “long, hardcore working hours at high intensity.” No one would ever had thought that he would proportionate the shortage of workers by increasing the working hours — so long that a pine would wrench. Now there’s again chaos about firing, unfortunately.
Trump was banned from Twitter in early 2021, following the events of the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol. At the time, many viewed the ban as a necessary step to prevent further incitement of violence and harm. However, Trump's supporters argued that the ban violated his right to free speech, and called for him to be reinstated on the platform. In response, Twitter announced that Trump would be allowed to return to the platform under certain conditions, including refraining from making further inflammatory or incendiary statements.
